Why Membership?

If you believe in something, support it.

Why is your Membership important?

Only members can stand to be an Officer, Executive Committee Member, Regional Rep, or join our Leadership Programme.

Only members receive our regular monthly update, with the latest news, campaigns and event invites.

Only members get access to exclusive events and resources such as our Jubilee Economics series and Members’ Summer School.

So what do we do?

And why do people choose to join us?

Our members join for a variety of reasons, but they all choose to pay a subscription that supports the huge variety of work we do. When it comes to getting involved, engagement looks different for everyone.

Here are some reasons why our members are proud to be Christians on the Left:

Prayer

We are a praying community. We meet monthly for our national prayer breakfast, gathering members from across the country to pray for each other, our communities, our cities, our Government and our nation. We pray for our members in the Commons, the Lords, local Councillors, campaigners and activists.

Policy

We host panels and discussions to get members thinking about what Government policy should look like and how it can serve the people of the UK and the world. We invite world-class speakers, theologians and politicians to share their ideas with our members and put our questions to them. Through our affiliation to the Labour Party and our connections with policy makers, we submit policy ideas and recommendations throughout the year, as well as around the main Party Conference, Women’s Conference and other key events.

Networking

We help members connect with each other via local events and our regional Reps, facilitating networks based on geography or issues. Relationships are also built through our Leadership/Mentoring programme and through campaigning and volunteering together.

Developing

Our Political Leadership Programme equips, engages, encourages and trains the leaders of today and tomorrow. Through skills training, network building, personal development, prayer and accountability, our members develop as individuals and as leaders, taking personal responsibility and working together as a cohort.

Nurturing

Our Director meets with our members and Christian & Non-Christian Parliamentarians, MPs, Lords, Charity and NGO executives and stakeholders, to offer support, prayer and encouragement.

Influence

Our affiliation with the Labour Party gives us the opportunity to speak into different bodies within the party, all the way from CLP level to the leadership and the NEC. We advocate for Christians and help the Party to understand a broader perspective from churchgoers and people of faith, whilst seeking to bring the “peace of God, which transcends all understanding” to every interaction. The valuable insight we bring, sees benefits in both directions as the Party seeks to better engage with believers.

“Whether we have a strong future depends on people like you, who’ve chosen to get involved.

Thank you for joining us.”

— Jonathan Reynolds MP, Chair
