Archbishop of York to preach at Labour Party Conference church service

The Archbishop of York will be the preacher at this year’s Labour Party conference church service.

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell will join Labour Party MPs, councillors, conference delegates, and members this Sunday morning in Liverpool, where the conference is taking place this year.

The theme of the service is “Restoring Hope in politics, in places, in people”.

The service is taking place at 8:45am at St James in the City, Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool, L8 1UR.

The Archbishop will preach on the readings for the day from the Lectionary: 1 Timothy 6:6-19 and Luke 16:19 – end. They will be read by Sarah Owen MP and Sir Stephen Timms MP.

The service is being held in partnership with Langley House Trust , a Christian charity which supports people who have offended or who are at risk of offending so that they reintegrate into society, live crime-free and thrive.

Christians on the Left will be live streaming the event on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0Uo6u6MqSQ
