The Time is Now for action on Climate Change

As Christians, we seek to put our faith into action by loving and caring for our neighbours and the earth, our common home. But right now, both are threatened by climate change.

Urgent action is needed to protect God’s creation as we know it. Will you join the mass lobby in Westminster, London on 26 June and tell MPs that it’s time to act on climate change?

Throughout history, the church has played a critical role in bringing about a better world: from its role in the civil rights movement in the United States, to the struggle against South African apartheid. When the church recognises a problem and unites to act upon it, we can bring about the most fundamental social change in history. Together we’re powerful.

As climate change continues to destroy many of the things we love and cherish, a shift of similar significance is urgently needed. The UN report released last year estimates that we have only 12 years to save God’s creation as we know it and groups such as the school strikes and Extinction Rebellion have brought the urgency of the issue to the fore.

Climate change is devastating the world’s poorest communities right now, as more extreme weather events, from flooding to droughts, have driven families from their homes and created food crises.

Keeping global temperature rise to below 1.5°C is what’s needed to reverse the trend of climate change.  Existing UK Government don’t go far enough. That’s why we’re calling on the UK Government to put a net zero greenhouse gases target by 2045 into law, now.

Tackling climate change is the next step in our long history of working together to bring about social justice for the world’s poorest people.

On 26 June, we’ll come together in London’s Westminster to celebrate our faith in action, lobby our political representatives, pray together and energise one another for the challenges to come.

We really hope you and your church will join thousands of other concerned citizens and people of faith for this unforgettable day of action, where we’ll come together in London to celebrate our faith in action, lobby our political representatives, pray together and energise one another for the challenges to come.

We are coming together to demand a greener, cleaner world - with MPs ending the UK’s contribution to climate change and passing ambitious new laws that build a better world for nature and people. We simply don't have time to waste.
